About this Event
Chuckwagons were field kitchens, historically used to carry food, feed traveling workers, and transport early settlers, on the prairies. A chuckwagon was to a wagon train, what a kitchen is to a home today – the social hub. The wagon was a place to relax, shoot the breeze, and share a good meal. The chuckwagon cook, “Cookie” was second in command only after the trail boss. Cookie traditionally prepared foods that were easy to prepare and preserve, such as biscuits and beans. Our Nationally Acclaimed Chef, Laura Fonner, turns up the heat on traditional chuckwagon fare. Laura is a celebrated local chef, long-time contributor to our area’s homeless population, and she’s also a two time winner of The Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games.
Ashton Beebe, owner of Indian Summer Guide Service, has always strived to bring the essence of the west back home to Virginia. His trail riding operation has earned a top spot on the bucket lists of Albemarle County’s visitors and locals alike. This unique union of skill and passion is an experience you’ll surely be talking about for a long time to come.
